Today is October 3. I have an announcement to make. I like
Sports
Night. I had heard good things about it, but was afraid to watch
it. I thought it would make me feel stupid or something. But Comedy
Central seduced me slowly, playing episodes when they *knew* I'd need
something new and interesting to watch. And now, I see the beauty. It's
a good show.
Clarinet choir tonight, then Cpr E 210 exam.
Will probably go visit Lori today since she got to go home yesterday.
It's still kind of a scary time but I'm just sooooo happy she's ok =)
Today is October 6. Perhaps I can turn this journal into "The Happiness
and Joy Report." In entertainment news:
Cake are coming to
the Val-Air in Des Moines on
November 2. Also, Ozzy
(with a bunch of other bands) at
Vets
Auditorium, on December 2, also in Des Moines. These two announcements
come just on the
heels of me bitching about how there are no good concerts remotely near
me, so that makes it even cooler. Another feather in DSM's cap is the
fact that the Varsity theater is showing Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Finally! I
have heard sooo much good buzz about that flick (heck, even back when
it was a musical) and I really wanna go!
In other news, I hung out
with a bunch of cool ppl that Jess
knows. We watched some MST3K, and Iron Monkey dubbed into English. See,
you thought it was some new movie, no. Apparently it was made years ago
in China and is just now getting released in the states. It was funny
and cool in the way that good kung-fu movies are.
Today is October 8. In Dave Barry's American History book, he decided
that all important historical dates would be "October 8," so that made me
laugh today. Also, according to my calendar, it's Thanksgiving in
Canada.
Currently, we are rocking out to The Electric Amish. They do
parodies of kewl classic rock songs from an Amish point of view. My
favorite is "All Right Cow" to the tune of "All Right Now" by Free.
She said moo. Moo, moo moo. I said, what the heck do you
mean by moo?
Also, I should mention, Happy Birthday to Bri-Bri
Today is October 9, and apparently it is Robot Day.
First, I had a craving to hear
"Mr. Roboto" by Styx. (So then I listened to it about a
million times during my walks around campus) Also, on SNL they had a
commerical for insurance against Robot attacks. Then, Tavie had a link to Robohouse, where
you can find what kind of robot you are.
So of course, I had to do it too.
In other news, I watched That Seventies Show. And I just want to say,
yay to
Fez for being accepting of women of all body types. Even though
Red gives him crap advice ("If a girl outweighs you by 30 pounds or more,
you're looking for trouble"), Fez just sez: "Fez likes them big, Fez
likes them small, Fez likes them all!"
Today is October 12, but almost midnight. Just got back from
Sissy &
Sassy, a super-fun drag show at the M-shop! Went with my good buddy
Victor (who I'd like to give a shout-out to now). Also of note, I made
it through another semi-exciting week of school. And only 3 more until
my birthday.
Today is October 10. I'm in the Coover computer lab, ostensibly doing my
computer
science homework. But first we must take a few minutes to screw
around, as is the style of the time.
RGN, Alicia,
and I are officially going to Cake (see 10/6). Bought the tix from
an evil corporation myself
y-day. Speaking of evil corporations. Go to AdCritic, the ppl who brought us the
Mr. Roboto/VW commercial from yesterday, and watch the Ralph
Nader campaign ads. Too bad more ppl didn't get with the program and
vote for him last year. And also it saddens me that he's not married. I
myself would marry him, but he might deal better with someone closer to
his age. Just sayin'
Today is October 16. Time seems to be going at an astounding rate. Got
the Cake tix today. Yesterday, shopped for "bar ho" clothes at
Vanity.
I even got a shirt with a pineapple on it =) Shopping, always a great
stress buster! So, yeah, and I want to do something for Halloween (other
than making my news page orange and black, lol). I'm gonna be a
nerd-4-life, I can just tell.
Today is October 18.
Conan and
Ozzy. What could be better? OMG, I
must have died during that insane Astro
study group time. I think I'm going to bed now. See you this
weekend.
Today is October 22. Had a good weekend, with work and movies. (That's
seriously all I did) Oh yeah, and I won a huge oreo cookie jar about
half full of
Oreos.
Foodservice had like an Oreo guessing contest and I
won for Dungeons (aka Friley line C). Today it is raining and I am
trying to finish up Com Sci homework. Also I got my pineapple slippers
off ebay today, so i'm wearing them whilst
hanging out in the old dorm room.
Today is October 24. New revelation. Everyone must love me. Ya hear
that? Everyone. Must. Love. Me. And people, people. Let's please
learn the difference between "loving" and "pestering."
In other, non-ego-maniacal news (well, I guess that's all in how one
looks at it) I went to the
Rec
for the first time this term. It was fun only now my arms hurt
since I am so wimpy. Today I got a call from the good people at
Geddy's Pub in Bar Harbor,
Maine. I ordered a shirt from them some time ago, yes, just for the
thrill of having a garment that mentions Geddy. Even if it isn't
the real Geddy, ha ha.
Btw, I
discussed this fine establishment(?) with the
alt.music.rush folks. Now they're posting about Blues Clues. Dammit, I
love when my passions overlap!
ETC: I have two
exams this week, one on Thurs, and
one on Friday. Also I register on Friday for Spring 2k2 classes.
Today is October 29. Happy Birthday to my brother Jonathan "Jonno" "Eb"
Hadaway. He is 19 today. Now 19 is a kind of lame birthday since not
much exciting happens, but it *is* your first college bday, so that
kinda makes up for it. I got him a Jimi Hendrix import CD and an old Chuck
Norris movie from the 2nd hand movie/cd place.
Quote from Seinfeld's Elaine, regarding penises.
I don't know how you guys can walk around with those things
Seemed relevant given the timbre of our discussions in the deli recently.
Today is October 31, Happy Halloween. Here are
a few of my thoughts on the holdiay.
- Since I grew up in the country, I did my trick-or-treating in Ames.
And my brother and I *always* had to have a joke to tell, to get our
treat. Well apparently this is a tradition in Des Moines, as well, and
all these people are making a huge deal about how DSM is the "only" town
that has jokes. We all know how stuck on itself Des Moines is, but
still, this raises a question. What do kids do in other,
non-central-Iowa towns? *Not* tell jokes? That makes no sense.
- Some of my costumes through the years. Clown, dinosaur, witch,
fairy, cat, pirate, gypsy, French maid, 70s chick, bumblebee, Stevie Nicks
(pic), Daria,
80's prom queen (pic)
-
As mentioned previously, we trick-or-treated in Ames. It was always a
little weird because we would go to our Grandmas' houses (only a few
blocks apart) and then the other houses nearby. We didn't know the people
so it was just like trick-or-treating in a random neighborhood. I'm
sure they wondered who we were.
- I think if there was any costume that I have not been yet, but would
like to, it would be Goth Cheerleader. I would get a looooong black wig
and make a cheer costume with lots of black and have the team name be
like the ravens or something. Since ravens are a fairly goth animal.
