Who knew you coudln't put your hand in the hot oil?

Today is October 24. Lemme start with Go Cardinals, Go Cardinals. It doesn't count as bandwagon-jumping when you've been a fan since 6th grade, I promise ;-) I guess since they were the first MLB team I ever saw play "in person," I decided to like them. As Cody points out, when you grow up in Iowa (or any state w/o their own pro team) you become a free-agent of sorts, able to support who you like. I guess most Iowans go for the Cubs or Twins maybe? Me, I like the Cards.

Right now I'm watching some more of this Comeback show. It's pretty much a bummer that they only got to do the one season. I've said this before but she seems just as deluded and self-important as David Brent. Both always having to look like they are in control, and everyone likes them, but the truth being far from it. Even if you didn't like Friends, you might still enjoy this show. Valerie is really nothing like Pheebs. I mean, her hair is red, what more do you want!?

I have a question for long hairded folks out there. I am forever getting my hair caught in my neclace. This is a neclace that I wear 24x7, and it's sort of a twisted rope kinda thing. I have to clean it off when there's too much hair on there. Does this happen to anyone else, or is this just another example of me being extra gross?

Also I wanted to mention that I put a (clean) white handkercheif around C-po's neck like a bandana and he looks soooooooo cute.

Today is October 17. Last night while I was trying to fall asleep, I came to the realization that I have both dated a friend's ex, and dated an ex's friend. For the first one, I would actually file it more under "tried to date" rather than "dated." And I was acutally friends with the guy myself, in both examples. But still, when you phrase it that way, chilling. How have I not been strung up by my thumbs yet? I almost had to get out of bed to post these findings, but sleepiness proved too great.

Today I joined up with Last.fm because I thought it looked like fun. If your haxoring skills are on the wane to guess what my username could be, here is a linkety. Maybe some day this week I'll turn on my iTunes on shuffle and then just keep reloading my last.fm page from work to see what it plays for me. That would be...sad.

I guess they are going to have trick or treat in the apartment complex. I got some candy from Walgreens and put it in one of my colanders. I hid it up above my fridge, so hopefully I don't eat too many fun size bars before the kids come. Of course I still have to figure out if they're trick or treating on the 30th or the 31st. If the 30th I will probably still be on my way back from the Ohio trip with Jess. We'll see.

Just a regular Thursday
mood:    good
Today is October 12. It has been a busy time. The other night we had a meeting at work and I hosted a fake awards show for our managers. That was fun. Then on the way home from the mall, I gave a dude a ride back to his truck, who had run out of gas. He was walking down the 8th/73rd street ramp with a gas can in his hand. I picked him up at the Kum & Go and we headed back to his pickup. Monday I went to American TV to get a new DVD player. The salesperson who was helping me recognized me from *my* electronics store. I had helped him at the bar. I had to ask the necessary question ("was I nice to you?") and he said I was. So I picked out a new player and then today I went back and picked it up. I had to pick a good DVD to test it out with, so C-po and I are watching Anchorman. This movie is phenomenal. Maybe I'll watch Wet Hot American Summer next for more Paul Rudd hotness. Later on, Shannon and I are going to watch Jay (Jibby Joe) play football.

this song is awesome

TOday is October 1. So my love of making playlists is pretty well-documented. Also, my obsession with playcounts is something I have been having fun with lately. The other day, I sort of combined the two by making a smart playlist of all my Rush songs previous to 1989 (basically everything up to and including A Show of Hands) with a playcount of less than five. The idea was to hear some songs that I haven't maybe heard as much, and find something cool in there. That I had perhaps overlooked previously, or what have you. It seems the song I noticed this time was "The Enemy WIthin" which is very rockin' and kind of reminds me of "VItal Signs." I was irritated b/c it doesn't appear on any of their live albums. Then I thought to check my tape of the p/g tour and sure enough, an energetic live version was to be found. If you can believe it, I bought this tape when one of the video stores folded back in Ames. I got the A Show Of Hands tape in a similar manner, but at a different shop. I suppose I'll eventually need to buy the DVD version, which actually includes another concert film as well. For now, the tapes are good enough, if only becuase the tape half of my DVD/VCR combo is the only working half! The Grace Under Pressure tape is quite enjoyable. It should be noted, that Alex had a phenomenal new-wave hairdo, and Geddy Lee does *not* like sleeves. I remember after the show in Ames, Andy felt it was a little low-rent of Ged to perform in a sleeveless shirt. His complaint ran along the lines of "If I paid for the ticket, the least he could have done would be wear a shirt with sleeves."

bonus link of joy: watch the video for "The Enemy Within"
