Today is November 1.
The purpled-out color scheme is because November contains my birthday,
and I wanted to do something "for me." Anyway, my discussion question for
today is, why are there so many
fine-ass guys on this campus? I swear, if I want to get *anything* done,
I'll have to transfer to St. Grendel's School for the Appearance
Challenged. Or somesuch.
Today is November 4. Happy Birthday Kory Pence (a nice guy I have known
since 2nd grade). The Cake show was
so, so awesome! They played lots of good songs, and I especially enjoyed
"Stick Shifts and Safety Belts." Since it was GenAdmin, we got really
close to the stage. The lead singer guy, John, looks a lot like my
friend Joel G. It was so funny to see him up there, singing all those
songs, and remembering doing my Algebra homework listening to Fashion
Nugget. He has a very cool voice. And he seemed to enjoy making the
audience chant/sing stuff, like "Sheep go to heaven, goats go to hell,"
and "Satan is my motor." Afterwards we went to Perkins and had a very
weird and incompetent waitress, who made me the largest Chipper sundae I
had ever seen.
Work was also pretty good this weekend. Today since it
was slow, we hard-core cleaned the cooler. It was so disgusting, but it
looks much better now. Tomorrow: One test, then kumla, then
another test, then FUN!
Today is November 6. Yesterday was a great, great birthday. Highlights
included e-cards from my friends, kumla dinner with Grandma, Jonno, and
Gig, and hitting "Welch Avenue Station" with Alicia, RGN, and Alicia. I
learned that pineapple juice is a very common mixer, and also tasty. We
had some good times and didn't get arrested or run over or anything. So
I guess there's always the weekend ;-)
Rgn and Alicia gave me a super-cool SPONGEBOB shirt from Hot Topic. I'm wearing it now, and
I'm watching the show too.
A few thought after visiting the HT web site. What if they some day
decide that Rush are "cool" enough to warrant making shirts for them,
like they do Floyd, Zep, Beatles, etc. That would be pretty funny.
There'd be all these Goth kids walking around with the man-in-star logo,
or the big owl from Fly By Night. I would laugh and hope that the guys
got some money out of the deal.
Apparently Jessica
or (Jesh) thinks she is mean. Everyone e-mail her and tell her she's nice.
Today is November 7. I think I would like to be seduced by that
Enya
song. "And who can say if the something something..."
later My official response to tonight's South Park episode. At
first I was pissed at them for ripping on my Stevie. But then I remembered how
funny it was when they mocked Phil Collins, and I felt better.
Today is November 11. 11/11/01. Pretty run-of-the-mill weekend, except
that I was surrounded by cool people for most of it. May I please plug
Smirnoff Ice again? It's soo
good. Only one more week before Thanksgiving break, and I'm looking
forward to that week off. No exams or anything this week, just the usual
programming and lab fun.
I think I'm going to like this whole "being-21" thing.
Now for a funny
"trying to buy booze" story. Lori (one of the cool people I got to hang
out with this weekend) told me of a scrumptious concoction made of
orange-flavored vodka and
Capri Sun. [As I am typing this, it occurs to
me that this sounds like a drink the "Boston
Teens" on SNL would make] Anywho, we ventured to Cub foods to
procure said ingredients. The total for the two items came to 12.51, but
I only had 12 bucks on me. I asked Lori for 50 cents, but the cashier
lady was like, how old were you again? Because she had just ID'ed Lori
buying smokes, and knew she was >18 but was unsure on the >=21 part. I
laughed and realized that if she gave me the 50 cents, she would have
been techincally buying alcohol. So, i put the whole thing on my atm
card. Although now that I think of it, i could have just paid for the
vodka, then had her ring up the juice separately and bummed the 50 cents
for it. Oh well, it was funnier this way. I told the clerk she should
have got some kind of award for being vigilant in that manner.
Today is November 12. I just wanted to say "Happy Birthday
Neil Young"
Today is November 13. I think my plan of action should be to seduce that
pretty boy from the Dell commercials.
I would have my way with him, then show him the wonders of the Macintosh,
especially ones named Larry. Then the next
time he would do the ad, he would say, "Do0d, you're getting a Dell.
Sorry, bro, maybe next time you'll get a Mac."
Today is November 17. We are officially on break. It's a good,
relieving feeling. First off, I had some guests over last night, and
yada yada yada, I'm really tired today. Then, had an interesting trip to
DSM with downstairs Brent and Chris. I'm sleepy and I'm watching the
Facts of Life on TVland. Later, David
and I are going
to look at the Leonid meteor
shower.
Today is November 21. Hello, my lovelies. (lovlies?) Work was kinda
blah today. Have to be back in ~13 hours, wondering if I should go home
at all. Sort of wishing I would have taken the week off of work. Then
remembering I need the money.
Go take
some fun online tests.
I particularly enjoyed my assessment on the "Metal" test:
YOU ARE 68% Metal-Head.
You rock just as hard as
the rest of the thrash set, except when no ones looking you like
to get down with a little
"More
than a Feeling."
It's funny because it's true. Chris and I were jamming to that very song
today, trying to irritate our deli boss Dan "Stan" Meyer.
Today is November 18. Meteor-wathing went well, as did the dye project. For the curious,
toothpaste is an excellent sink-cleaner. I'm going home for awhile now;
there's a possibility I won't be online again until next Sunday night.
(Hah, who am I kidding, I will be back starin' at Larry Tuesday night
after work) I was just trying to be dramatic, and lament that fact that
we no longer have internet access at home.
Today is November 25. Break was really satisfying. Yeah, so I blew a
lot of it working, but will get a fat check on Friday, complete with OT.
So now it's good-bye to the deli for 6 days, and back to the
glory that is homework, heh.
In other news, went to the Barn Dance
Saturday night with David. That was a good
time. They didn't do "Swannee" or any of the ones I knew from RSHS
square dancing with Dallas "Dal" Kray, but it was still a lot of fun.
Prog Nerd Moment (even at a squaredance). The band, the Barn Owls,
they had a new song called the 17/14 something. I got all excited,
thinking that was the key signature, as in "Apocalypse in 9/8" from
Foxtrot. Then I remembered. 17-14 was the
score of the football game played earlier that day, with the Cyclones
defeating the Hawkeyes.
Right now, I'm watching Star Wars
(Episode IV, A New Hope). Such a good flick, and Han Solo is
super-fine.
Han just said "I've got a bad feeling about
this," and I suddenly wished I had someone over here to play the Star
Wars drinking game. (hell yeah I'd start drinking at 1:15 in the
afternoon....if I didn't have all that homework to do.) Maybe another
time, when we can start from the beginning and do it right!
Today is November 26. "And I just hit you over the head with a muddy
2x4" Oh, how I love Conan. He can cheer me up anytime.
Today is November 28. Canada Loves New
York. Featuring my good friend Geddy Lee. Of note: a bag of
peanut butter
cups all to oneself is a very dangerous thing.
(Later) Saw a beautiful girl at the library. She had long stick-straight
hair and was wearing a black tunic-like sweater. I went and found more
items to check out just so I could go through her line. She even
commented on one of my items. It made my day =)
Hydrobots!
Today is November 30, last day of the month. (In Historian voice). 2001
will be remembered as the year everything decided to suck. We lost Nancy
and Daisy (see April), thousands of innocents
in the WTC and Pentagon attacks, and George Harrison. Plus, we almost
lost Lori.
Well there's only one month left of 2K1. Just try to stay alive and
focus on the positive.
