Today is November 1. I am at work and I am really tired. Met Scott Kurtz and Frank Cho yesterday
at Mayhem. In the 3rd quarter, Iowa is leading Illinois 20-0. When I
get home, I plan to take a nap and then go to the SUB film "Eyes without
a Face." Tomorrow I have the day off of work but I have lots of stuff to
do such as cleaning my apartment in preparation for...
Birthday Party
Clarinet Choir Concert 5:20 PM METRH Music Building, ISU.
Afterwards: Dinner/Cake/Etc My apt. (e-mail for directions) We'll probably
have a movie or some "I Love The 80s" episodes, or just tunes. Should be a fun
time.
Today is November 2. There is a commercial on VH1 for the
Big in 2003 special,
and it includes the line "A good ol' boy from Detroit" spoken over
footage of Kid Rock. The first time I heard it, I was not watching the
screen and I heard "A girl and boy from Detroit," and assumed they were
referring to Meg and Jack. So
I was kind of bummed to watch it again and get the truth =(
Today is November 4. So, I'm going into panic mode because I'm sitting
here in Cpre 486 and suddenly we have a test over design patterns. I do
not want to take a test over design patterns. I didn't know we had a
test over such patterns until I saw people talking about "test" and
stuff. Helen is not even here. I doubt she knew either. Well, bye
now.
Today is November 23. I should have been the web nerd one, but my shame
caused me to start checking the music-related ones...

take the nerd test.
and go to mewing.net. a nerd utopia.
So yeah. Yesterday, a mustard bottle in the cooler took a header on the
shelf and stabbed me in the meaty part of my hand. It caused a nifty
blood blister. It was a Plochman's, and that bottle has a particularly
pointy red tip. Sharon's concert thingy Friday night was really fun. It
was at this place (it
was in a small performance space that's inside the big building). Sharon
did such an amazing job with her songs. Afterwards a bunch of us
visited. The friends in attendance included Faith & Eric, Naomi, Kendra,
Laura & Jill, and Nick. I took some pics since I am camera-happy. I was
working on a "college" scrapbook and realized I have hardly any pictures
from junior year on.
I'm sleepy.
Today is November 11. Last night at work I was slicing a tenderloin bun
and I accidentally sliced the tip of my left index finger. It bled
pretty bad. I was trying to put the bandaid on myself but suddenly had a
freakout moment and started repeating "I can't do this" so then JB put a
bandaid on me. Usually I am ok with blood but I don't know what happened
there.
Today is November 12. Right now I'm watching
Blade
Runner, courtesy the netflix (duh). It's really cool. It has
Harrison Ford so you can't go wrong there.
I
took Señor Stripey and Shasta to counseling with me today. My
counselor held Sr. Stripey and I held Shasta. She liked him, I could
tell.
I now present Rachel's Pineapple Wish List. Some of these things
might not actually exist, and I accept that.
- Pineapple shaped neon sign. It could even be advertising something,
I wouldn't care. Lately it seems you can buy lots of different shaped
things in neon signs, so maybe they will do the right thing and make a
piney soon.
- Canisters for flour, sugar, etc. I'm sure you have seen these in an
old person's kitchen. Would rather have ones with just a pineapple on
each canister, but I remember seeing a set at the Ames Antique mall with
a big pineapple surrounded by other kinds of fruit.
- Hooded Sweatshirt a.k.a. Hoodie. Preferably red with a cartoon-type
piney silk-screened on it. I have seen something like this from Roxy or
Hollister up for auction, but too small. Haven't seen any listed for a
while.
- Drawer pulls. These could be pineapple-shaped wood/pewter/etc. or a
normal knob with a piney painted on it. When I buy my real dresser for
my bedroom in my real house, I would put these drawer pulls on it.
- Clock. Actually 2 types. One is a normal round kitchen clock with a
nice realistic looking piney painted on it. The other is a plastic
pineapple-shaped clock for a bedside table. I saw it in a magazine once
when I was in jr. high and I was going to get it, except that the place
you ordered it from, you had to order a lot of 10 or 12 or something.
(it was a catalog for retail ppl) Of course now I would probably just buy
the lot of them and then give away or sell the ones I didn't need, but
back in the day I didn't have that kind of $$
- Hello Kitty. There were some fruit Hello Kitty plush toys released
at Target a while back, but I could never find the pineapple ones in the
2 larger sizes, just the small keychain size. I would also like to find
the original yellow pineapple juice bar set MIB.
- Cookie cutter. Pretty self-explanatory
- Bedding, like a comforter, sheet set, etc. I already have 2 throw
pillows but they are for the couch. I know there is a Pineapple quilt
pattern but since it's a
quilt
pattern it looks nothing like the name
(geese? log cabin?). If I ever learn to quilt I might make a pineapple
quilt that actually looks like a pineapple using different scraps of
yellow and green fabric.
Well that is probably enough for now.
Today is November 17. Er, 18th. It's after midnight. For Halloween this
year I was "Raggedy Rachel, the Evil Rag Doll" and I had a really cool
costume. For anyone who didn't see me, I kinda looked like
this
except my sleeves were purple and my skirt was black, and i had purple and
black striped socks instead of vinyl platform boots. But the same overall
effect of an evil rag doll
Today is November 19. Right now, I'm watching Neil Young rock out on
this DVD.
The talking parts are kind of lame, but the tunes are great. Tonight is
kumla dinner with Grandma Hazel. I haven't eaten much today (a Twix and
a leftover corn muffin) and I've done a lot of walking so I can have a
big appetite for kumla, ham, green beans, applesauce, and bread. I found
an interesting article that mentions kumla and other Norwegian foods for you to read.
I found my disposable camera with all my California pics on it, so I can
finally get them developed!
Today is November 28. Thanksgiving in Sioux City was nice. We got to
see and hold the new baby, Cary, who belongs to Chris's cousin Todd and
his wife Leslie. She's a nice baby. I was not in the family picture
(rampant communication problems coupled with photo cost issues and
stuff). I finally won the
Ginny
pineapple dress so I bought a doll from
Thinker Toys to wear it.
Thanksgiving dinner was held at Patty's. It was very yum, including
delicious cheesy potatoes. Also we watched The Santa Clause 2, which was
pretty bad, but at least had some funny parts.
