Today is January 8. I worked my last morning at Hy-Vee. Of course I
still have to go in tomorrow and Wednesday *night*. I have been
listening to dangerous amounts of
Journey. They are a fun band, and they really appeal to my
sentimental side.
This semester I will be taking 3 classes at
Drake University, as well as working for the State of Iowa. Details at eleven.
Today is January 16. I apologize for the lag in updates. It's my second
day at Drake, and all is well. I was blessed with a very cool roomie,
Linda. I've enjoyed getting to know her and her gang. We played some
old school inside half-court three-on-three tonight. Fun times.
The archive of NewsRadio
is going well. Today was the last ep with Bill MacNeil though
[sniff].
Today is January 18. I had my first "real" day of intern work. I was
trying to do research on
Fort Dodge. Specifically, I wanted to see what opinion articles had
run
in their local paper, the Messenger. Sadly, this was not to
be, as you can discover by following the link. They have no archive!
Then I went to band practice. I am the only percussionist there
full-time, but members of the Wind Symphony will play with us for the
concert. One of our songs is published by
Manhattan Beach Music.
I include the link because I like the song "Manhattan Beach."
Today is January 27. Work is going ok. It is nice
to be back in a routine. Friday I went to the SUB film
Grave of the
Fireflies. It was a great movie but so sad! Later I had a pleasant
cup of cafe latte* with a gentleman friend at
Gregory's Coffee House
and re-learned the game of checkers. We rounded out the evening with the
rental of another, far less
serious anime,
Dragon Half. It was hilarious and totally appropriate for my short
attention span.

Heidi's Page has definitions for many types of coffee drinks. Plus
she works at Gregory's so she must be cool.
I spent the night in my
grandma's basement on a
Hide-a-bed.
Let me
explain why this is funny. One day my friends, who will be identified
only by their initials, "Sharon," and "Laura Joy," and I were reading
some classified ads (we were bored in study hall, give us a break!).
I read one selling a Hide-a-bed, and they looked at me, as to say,
"What?" It had suddenly occured to them what a Hide-a-bed actually
was, a BED that you fold up and HIDE in a couch. Before it had
seemed to them that there was a word "hidea" that described a bed. It
was all clear to them now! So whenever there are Hide-a-beds I think of
Sharon and Laura and laugh.
Today is January 29. Ok, so we all know that The Land of Rach has been brought
to you by, among other things, Kitties!
Well imagine my surprise today when I was using my
favorite search engine and I found
out that kitties, those darn corporate whores, have been sponsoring some
other things too!
Plus, you know if anyone would need to be sponsored by kitties it would
be
NewsRadio's
Matthew.
Thanks that's all I have for today! Hugs and kisses everyone!
