Today is January 1. Happy new year everyone =) Celebrated with RGN and Alicia. We played board
games and Uno and stuff, and ate snacks and drank. It was a lovely
evening.
Conan was the man and counted down special for the people in
the Central time zone. There were little dancing mascot guys that came
out at 12:00, including a guy in a corn suit. It was cool.
We took lots of pictures in Colorado and my plan is to make a special
trip page so you can read and see what we did.
Today is January 2. Here's the scoop. I came home from work,
dead-dog-tired, and went to sleep for seven hours. I woke up at 10:30
and now I don't know what to do. We were supposed to go to a movie, a movie that I had
saved to see with Brent, but I slept right through all possible showings
of it. So now I'm watching TV, messing around on the internet, and
wondering what I should do next.
Now, to copy Goose, (a
friend of Tavie's), the best/worst of
2001.

Today is January 5. We're all (Rachel,
Sharon, Alycia, Kendra, Faith,
Naomi, Laura, Christa, Megan (Echy)) at Sharon's, chatting like old
times. All five other Baumhovers are here too, along with Fudge and Mr.
Mel.
Everyone's enjoying my photo books, which makes me happy =)
Soon we'll
eat tacos, and then commence to the actual baking. It's so
cool to see people again. There are four, yes FOUR
Tauruses here.
Today is January 6. Later at Sharon's,
Lars & Veronica came,
with baby
Kaia (sp?) in tow, then later Keith and Nathan. Good bunch. After I
left the Baumy house, I went to a party on Campus Ave which was a BLAST.
They even played some Journey for
me on the mp3. So needless to say I
didn't get much sleep. right now I'm really tired and just watching TV.
I have done a bit of rearranging in the ol' room. Now it looks like
a talk show set =) And I have my TV up on milk crates, but I'm
thinking about getting some fabric to drape over the crates to make
it look a lil' nicer, ha ha.
Oh yeah, and any one I might have
proposed to last night, post-party, I apologize. I get a little
friendly after drinkin'.
Today is January 9. Yesterday David Bowie turned 55, this fact courtesy
Lori. I went to visit her Tuesday night, after work. Then I came home
and drank and listened to records.
Journey:Beer::Yes:Amaretto.
Somehow that seems fitting. It is hard to type now. Later today, after
I have slept sufficiently, I will attempt to buy and sell books. My hair
smells really good. I need some one to make out with. My room is a
fully functional babe lair, but it hasn't lured anyone here yet. WHY?
Speaking of babes, I saw the dreamy Peter Schultz at KwikShop while
visiting Lori. We figured out we had both been at Breckenridge on
the same day. Wow.
Today is January 13. Happy 52nd birthday Dad. Last night was the Hy-Vee
"Christmas" party. I took Lori as my guest. We had a great time getting
toasted and dancing and stuff. I think she fit in with my co-workers
well. Today at work we were all moving pretty slowly, plus it was really
dead so that led to a very long long day. Andy got a massive hickey
on the bus ride on the way home, so we all (including some old
people) gave him crap about it =)
Today is January 10. Weird day at work. The health inspector came and
we had to run around like crazy and make things clean. Book-buying
went fine, then later I went home and knit for a while. P.S. Don't
tell Larry,
but I really want a new iMac
Today is January 14. Well, it's that time of year again :

Today is January 16. A brief conversation.
Less Nerdy Self (LNS): You just asked the
pharmacist for 100
"meg" of Zoloft. You cannot *have*
100 meg of a prescription! It's 100 milligrams, you computer geek!"
Me: Sorry.
That having been said, please read this
I did not write it, I just found it interesting.
Today is January 21. Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day. He was a great
man and an amazing leader. And a class act all the way.
I made a page about Records, you know,
LP's, vinyl, platters, stacks and stacks of wax and wax?? Well go check
it out, sure to please everyone.
Things are going pretty well. First week of school went fine. I think
if I can just keep up with my work in all my classes I should be golden.
Oh yeah, and I got my paperwork so hopefully now I can get a loan of some
kind, so that I can continue to attend school.
Today is January 23. Today I just let my hair air-dry and it turned out
all nice and curly. Interesting. Right now, I'm listening to a little
ABBA. Has anyone seen the "Mamma Mia" musical? I remember seeing ads
for it in Toronto, and then never really heard much about it again until
late last year. If it comes anywhere near Des Moines, I will be there.
Speaking of which, there was a clue in the New York
Times Crossword today that had something to do with Des Moines.
I thought that was kinda cute.
Today is January 25, early in the a.m. Today's beautiful song that helps
us be sad is Cricket by the
Dance Hall Crashers. I think it's supposed to be a lullaby, of a mother
reassuring her child before s/he goes to sleep. To not be afraid of
death. It is a good song for me, to help me be sad. Ranks right up
there with For Martha by Smashing Pumpkins. I have both these songs and
can get you a copy if you'd like to hear their sad melodies.
Today is January 28. Had a good weekend. For the SUB film showing of Hedwig, I got to dress Tom and Victor
as pretty, pretty ladies. I "introduced" them to the audience before the
show. The movie was great too, amazing music and beautiful costumes. I
reccomend it highly.
A new feature of the news page is going to be "Rachel's first human
interaction of the day." The criteria for this award is that I have to
speak with someone face to face. We must each say something. Today that
honor goes to Michelle Sacco, Rowe House, at 12:15 p.m.
In other news, I don't have to work Saturday morning so I need to do
something wild and crazy Friday night!
Today is January 28. Watching MeatLoaf perform "Paradise by
the
Dashboard Light" on VH1. I'm not sure if it's a movie or what the deal
is. Anywho:
Which drink are you?
Yeah, that's pretty accurate. (pronounced "accur-at")
Today is January 31. Big snow. It has been snowing for about 30 hours
straight now. I got my Com
Sci homework finished and turned in and everything. A nice feeling
to get off to a good start.
Oh wonder of wonders. An X-Files Fanfic
that takes place in Story City.....How cool is that? I didn't read it
all the way through, but it seemed kinda cute, I guess.
