Today is February 2. Jess
and Andy are here. We're
watching the movie "My Girl," and basically just sitting around waiting
for the lady of the hour, Jill. It has been
a good weekend so far. Went out drinking last night, had another
embarassing drunken encounter with Chris, and then today I goofed around
and worked on paper crafts. I also discovered a new obsession,
Googlewhacking, wherein you search for pairs of words and try to find
those that produce exactly one search result. I have found a few pairs
myself, but will not list them here. Because then those will be taken
out of the running, and that's not cool.
Today is February 6. Having participated
in Tavie's
book quote challenge, I earned a link from her blog. Woohoo! So if
any of you are here via Miss Tavie, welcome.
In other news, I am having another crisis-of-major. (Soon to become a
crisis-of-whether-I-should-even-be-in-college-or-not).
Computer Engineering is
*really* not feeling like the right fit. I realize that any major in
college is going to be challenging, but as Lisa so eloquently puts it,
"Duh! [I wanted] A challenge I could *do*!!" People ask me what I like
doing and I invariably say things like "writing, drawing, reading, doing
research." Oh how I wish the career fairy, whose existence my high
school guidance counselor so often denied, would pay me a visit. And by
the way, I use the term "guidance counselor" veerrrrrry loosely in the
previous sentence.
Add this to the stress of not knowing how I'm going to pay for this
semester, and you have a very screwed-up, worried Rachel. If anyone
needs me, I'll be sitting on my couch cushions, working on the only
strenuous mental activity that brings me any joy:
crossword puzzles.
Today is February 7. My com sci
homework for the week is again finished. And even a few hours
early! Right now I'm in the Math computer lab, on a
sweet lil' G4. Brent needed to print some stuff so I, flush with the
giddiness of a completed c++ project, suggested we trundle over to Carver
and get into the beauty of the Mac Lab. Once again, I don't work on
Saturday. What's up with that. Fancy plans are to watch the Star Wars trilogy with Chris. (he
has begun referring to me, whilst I'm in stages of c++ madness, as
"his little codemonkey")
Today is February 8. I'm jumping on the friend-quiz bandwagon.
take my quiz here.
Enjoy! (now that I can't procrastinate anymore, I must go do my EE homework)
Today is February 11. Thanks to all who took the below-mentioned quiz.
I had a great weekend. Here is a diagram of what I look like today =)
I'm wearing my new giant pants and they
are fun. Tonight I shall venture to Des Moines to rock out at Hairy Mary's with the good gents of
FU MANCHU!!. So, so excited.
Been waiting for this moment ever since I bought King of the Road and
cranked it in my car stereo all the way home.
Today is February 12. Had a good time at the concert last night, my
enjoyment dulled somewhat by the following factors.- It was
approximately 8pm. This is far too early for a satisfying rock
show
- The crowd was not that into it. I'm sure they are fine
people, good rockers through-and-through, but they were just there to
hear "a band." I and a few select others were actually going nuts and
singing along and stuff.
- The weird drunk guys trying to mosh.
Luckily the bouncers and another (bemulleted) fan took care of
them.
- They did not play my favorite tune, "Boogie Van." This
upset me. I even bought the Boogie Van tee, and assumed that since they
put the song on a shirt, it would be played. So I didn't feel the need
to yell it out (and I would have felt pretty weird yelling out what was
on my shirt)
But it was still an awesome show and I'm really
glad I went. Fav song of the night was probably King of the Road or
Squash that Fly ("God damn this plan has gone awry.....And now it's time
to squash that fly....")
The crossword puzzle today had numbers in it. Digits. 4 Across was
"2002." I wrote the numerals in the boxes with a giddy thrill of doing
something wrong.
"Please
get out of my [insert name of band here] t-shirt before you
jinx the band and they break up.
Today is February 13. My dorm has a homepage: Westgate Dormitory. Try to find me in
the Halloween pix...I think I'm going to skip cs228 today b/c it's
just new information that won't be on the test, and I need to get
this stinkin' EE 201 done.
Today is February 14. Happy Valentine's Day to
all. Have you ever
gotten a valentine that was inspired by a movie? If so, was the movie
UHF?
Today is February 18. Sick all weekend, but
better now. I had an
excellent caretaker. Sometime I have him lured up here, I will see if he
would like to appear in a picture for you people.
I love how NewsRadio's
Matthew would shout "Wake up, people!" and then slap his hands twice
on the conference table. It just seems like a call-to-arms sorely missed
in our workaday world.
Today is February 20. Another silly online quiz.

Which tarot card are you?
In other news. Interview with Lockheed Martin went very
well. I swear, I must go into some "interview mode" where my thoughts
spill out randomly....I mean, I hear my voice saying these things,
but I don't really believe them. At one point, I used the phrase,
"metaphorically speaking, of course." (I was referring to "red flags" or
"alarms" that go off when you are about to encounter a problem).
Today is February 25. Concert yesterday went well. All major gong hits
were resonant and played at the appropriate times. Today feeling
incredibly tired. But there are miles to go before I sleep. Here, check
this out; it's fun.
Today is February 27. Test tomorrow, then another test Friday. Yuck.
Here is a
picture of the sweetest boy in the world. Despite the poor quality of
the image you can still see the bright eyes, happy smile, and
cheekbones you could slice cheese on.
Now here is what I would like to call "Being a dick about language." My
brother's away message: "Intermural Bowling." My gut response: "Wow,
Jonno, you made it onto the bowling team where you bowl against other
schools! Wow!"
Inter-, Intra-. -phobic, -philic. Some people are
claustrophobic. I am claustrophilic. It's a word. Trust me.
