Ventcat likes to sit by a vent

Today is February 23. Title comes from orange C-po sitting by the heat vent in my living room. Maybe if I lay on the couch long enough he will come sit on me. I'm listening to some Cars. The band, The Cars, I mean.

Today I woke up and read a little bit, then called my dad to see how he was doing. He had a growth taken off his arm a week or so ago. No big whoop as it turned out but one always wonders. Then Caylor and I chipped some ice and pushed it off the driveway, and had lunch at Cici's. It's not an effing cheat day if you don't go to some form of buffet, be it Chinese or whatever.

After lunch, we drove around and checked out a used cd (&dvd&game) store, and then popped into the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store on 6th street. Except, I was used to suburban thrift stores like the Goodwills of Ames & Ankeny, and that one by Normandy; and the ones Brent took me to in greater Homerha. It was a different story here. I bought a card with a picture of a cat on it to send to Peggy, then we took out of there.

Our goal was the Fleur Cinema and Cafe, to see No Country For Old Men. I'm not a very good judge of what makes a "good" serious movie, but I thought it was interesting and well-made. The only other Best Picture Nom I've seen is Juno, but I would like to see There Will Be Blood. Michael Clayton, I dunno. I saw the trailer a butt-load of times at Billy Joe's before various other films, but somehow missed them actually showing it. Atonement, I have zero interest in. I read the summary of the plot and it sounded way too irritating to me.

We came home and chipped some more ice, and then I gave my mailman my 2 netflix that I watched last night. I forgot to put them in the mailbox when we went to lunch b/c I am a forgetter. Being a forgetter is not as good as being the decider.

Eek

Today is February 16. You know how there's people that say AIDS is a punishment from God for being gay? Or that believe feminists did WTC? Well I don't know if God is involved on this one, but a hangover is definitely punishment from your body for being such an idiot. This is from some TV show, I know, but I can't remember which one at the moment. Thought it was Freaks and Geeks, but my google-fu is lacking in this state. Actually the clacking of the PB keys is starting to grate on me a bit (not as much as dropped pans in the deli, heh) so I'll keep this quick.

Went out with Jess and David last night, and it was really fun. I saw Adam "F-stop" Faircloth and his gf Anne, so that was cool. Hadn't seen them since Texas Hold 'Em 201: Etiquette 'Em in Spades (as Cody Jans put it, hehe). Jess, David, and I even made it to The efffing FOX and got there in time to do some karaoke. Then we went to Perkins and had foods.

In Which I follow through

Today is February 11. Happy early birthday to one of our Land of Rach superfans, Jessica! (a/k/a Jesh) So think about car racing or home improvements or kitties or Zeppelin or otters maybe. We went to VH last week, sort of a pre-birthday deal. That was neat.

ah, so that explains it. (Sidebar: ignore the fighty comments. If there is one thing I dislike about this band, it's all the internet arguments they seem to inspire.)

Couch pics at my flickr. You can also see a couple of the orangest of the orange kittens, and my roommate.

My couches, let me show you them

Today is February 8. I just realized that the title sort of implies I would actually, you know, show you my new couches. Mañana, mañana. My digital camera is upstairs, the bat'ry is dead, and I have no clue where my camera cable is. Good times.

I got the new Mars Volta album last week, and I've been listening to it at least once a day since then (along with Frances and Amputecture). So, so amazing. Compulsion is fun, innit. I'm really digging "Goliath" and "Tourniquet Man." one of the criticisms I've seen of "Tournquet Man" is that it's too much like an 80's power ballad. I guess that's why I like it, heh. Actually this reminds me of The Hold Steady, because people say that they're like lame arena rock, and I guess I just like lame arena rock. Suck it, haters.

I think on the ol' ElJay I will do a picdump of dudes I'm majorly crushing on at the moment. Top of the list is Omar of TMV.....so adorable with his glasses and hair and vests and tiny pants. Yummah. (Relationship Protip: Dudes don't like it when you call them "Señor Tinypants.")
