She took the midnight train goin' anywhere. Today is March 3. Tuesday the kitty
ate some string and he was pretty sick for over a day. We went to the emergency
clinic last night and they checked him out. He got some fluids and some
antibiotics that I have to give him. They also gave me a tin of "bland diet" cat
food. So far he's been keeping that down today. It's still kind of wait-and-see.
He was running a fever with an elevated white cell count. We had the morning meeting from 8-10 then I came home to be with kitty. Going back in to work at 2:30. Taking i easy, making sure he does OK with this food. I just put out a little bit at a time for him. They couldn't find any evidence of the string inside him, so maybe it was just a coincidence or an attempt at attention for this other problem. Like a bug/virus or something. In humans I would think of a bug and a virus as similar. In computers they are not. A bug is something in the code, while a virus is a separate program. Also a bug is more likely just an annoyance or something that requires a workaround, while a virus would be malicious.

| Today is March 7. Feeling down today, on the heels of a repair that didn't go very well. I don't really want to post the details. Just feeling mostly worthless. Two episodes of Arrested to watch helped a little bit. Loved the random shout-out put-down to Conan. I was also trying to write a song parody of Sharp Dressed Man about Calypso. Mostly the part about white gloves because he has white paws. Today slept in, watched a disc of Friends. Weird syzygy of guest star Ben Stiller followed three episodes later by future wife Christine Taylor. No comment from me about how she looked heavier yet much prettier on that episode than now on Dodgeball or AD. | ||||
| Anthem of the heart and anthem of the mind |
| |||
| Today is March 18. Sorry no postage in awhile. Busy with work, busy with weird projects. Reading all the archives of Dinosaur Comics counts as a project. I kind of had Anthem stuck in my head after work. A good tune for when you need to let off some steam. Right now I'm just eating some chicken nuggets and trying to decide what to do for tonight. | ||||

Today is March 20. Yesterday went to Muscatine to visit Chris and meet his new
couches (that he picked out last time I was there). He got a blue recliner couch
with fold-down console and matching loveseat. I actually slept on said couch and it
was pretty comfy. Since there was a new AD I stayed and watched that w/Chris. It
was a funny episode. Felt bad for Crossy in the 2nd half though. If you have seen
it you know what i mean. The episodes seem to go by so fast when you watch them the
first time. Didn't do a whole lot this wkend, but that's what made it fun. Mostly watched Oz and played Katamari Damacy. If you have a PS2, get this game! It is simple to play yet challenging. Sometimes way too hard but then you'll find an area with tons of stuff and you can make your goal. Your goal of rolling stuff up with your sticky ball. We also watched some NCAA basketball, bits of different games, such as the first half of the ISU game. Also we made a trip to Wal-Mart where Chris found a nice piney beach towel (very pretty) and I got a little matchbox-style milk truck that I am going to turn into the staircar. The tanker part (to hold the milk) was plastic and easily removed. I just need to get some plastic or maybe modeling compound to put the stair part on. (True item: as tonight's episode was beginning, Chris asked "Do they still have the elevator truck?" and that made me laugh.) Oh, another true item. We went to Hy-Vee Saturday to buy pop to go with our pizza, and we decided to get something stronger. Chris decided on Watermelon sminroff ice stuff. At the checkout, the checker (who couldn't have been onlder than 16) said "oh, that stuff is so good." I looked at her and said "I'm not going to ask how you know that." After we left the store I burst out laughing.
| ER was a good show |

Today is March 26. I just thought of a really cool name for someone in
my imaginary hip-hop posse: Doctor Apocalypse. Other major players
include MC Raquel Rockwell and DJ Stupid. As Raquel Rockwell,
my rock-the-party catchphrase would be "Time to get Stupid!" and then DJ
Stupid would start scratching like mad. Maybe Doctor Apocalypse could be
their producer or someone who comes on to spit one really kickass verse
only. shoutout to Tim Rash for dubbing me MC Raquel Rockwell
So it should come to a surprise as no one that I have not worked at all on the staircar since getting the milk part off. Although I have been making progress on the Jay Johnston appreciation site. Since I couldn't figure out how to make DVD screengrabs with my 600 MHz iMac, I just started ripping the DVDs into avi, and framegrabbing from that. It takes Graphy quite a while to import each episode but it's going OK so far. Also I applied at The Fanlistings to create a FL for the Mr. Show cast commentary. They make you list a site you have made for reference. The best I could think of was the Taurus Club which looks ok but hadn't been updated for years and years. I updated it so the FL rating ppls wouldn't think I was a major slacka. I think I stopped updating around after mom. Although as Jill points out I can still make a fansite for the commentary, even if I don't get approved. I should point out that at this point all I have is the title, "Fake Energy." Oh yeah, the title. I got another disc of ER from the netflix. Watching it makes me feel better about the repairs we fuck up. At least no one died.
| Shouting, clearing away spaces angrily with your whole arm |

Today is March 28 -> 29. So we all know my love for quoting. "I will RUIN this
house with my anger!" being a top one. (along with "let's get drunk and rip off a
ten-speed") I taught Susie "I don't understand the question, and I won't respond
to it." For some reason lately I've had a desire to go up to like a table or shelf
and just sweep everything off with my arm or arms. No one at work seems to
understand this - it's just as well since everything there (on the floor anyway) is
cable-managed and secured from any rampaging. Onto more news of the normal. Went up to Ames for Easter the other day. Had a nice time at Rod & Rose's, hung out, talked cats. Got some good snaps of Sadie I will try to post in a bit. Also visited David's mother Peggy. She had her house full of many nice easter and spring decorations. For the capper of the evening, I went to Grandpa Harold's and we watched 2 of the really great shows out right now: Arrested and Deadwood. I haven't seen much of DW but Gpa and Dad are really into it. Dad tapes it each week. Also we caught an ep of Curb Your Enthusiasm which was actually really funny. (none of us had ever seen it before) I added the first season to my queue to check it out from the beginning. Speaking of netflix I watched Bastard Out Of Carolina today. Super-depressing. Some good acting, and some really awkward acting. Christina Ricci's character was the only one wih any sense - actually get the heck Out Of Carolina and away from your psycho family. In closing, a computer that we have had since 12/04 was finally picked up on Saturday. So we were pretty psyched. Hopefully getting some more long-term ones finished out tomorrow too (paperwork).

Today is March 31. Day started out fine, with our meeting at the store.
Got the re-imaging almost done. Then came home and was just chilling when
I got a phonecall from Brent. He was in tha Dee Moines for a job
interview. We went to the deli with the Killer sandwiches (B&B Grocery)
and shopped at the Halfprice Books store. I picked up the Ben Stiller
Show DVDs, the Jump the Shark book, a Stevie LP, and a gift for Jess.
b I was watching the first disc when Molly called and let me know about Mitch. As I was on the phone I woke up Graphy to see that Jess had IM'd me with the story as well. He was such a talented and cool guy. He brought people together. I'm glad we got to see him perform. Hopefully they did a record on this last tour because that was some hilarious new material. it would be nice for the fans, but I would understand if it was too hard for them to put it together. Also I hope Lynn is doing ok. I think they were a good match. (later: Jeffrey Rowland pays tribute. If you're not already reading OvC each weekday, you could start today. If nothing else just read the older ones and it could cheer you up a little)
