Jamocha Almond Idiot

Today is April 27. I'm doing something slightly silly which is watching a movie on cable tv that I own on DVD. 10 rachelpi-points to those who can guess what it is.

Yesterday I went to the Papa Murphy's over on NE 14th and the staff there was so nice! Plus they were listening to Star 102.5 Seventies Saturday Night, so I gave them props for that. It reminded me of when Evan and Laura worked at the Story City DQ and someone from their store would always call in and make requests.

Delaware. Hi, I'm in......Delaware.

El fin de semana!

Today is April 18. I made it to the weekend, so that's cool. For me, it's actually a coveted four-day weekend since I'm taking off Monday and Tuesday to go to The Mars Volta. The show is at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium. I'm staying at a place within walking distance of the venue because I am Mr. Fancy. Also I'm planning to go to Ikea. There's nothing I really *need*, except maybe a footstool for Caylor in the living room. Right now all we have is Calypso's busted-ass ottoman.

Speaking of things I *need*, I definitely need this shirt. I could also go for a pint of Phish Food, but who's counting.

I made it out alive. Remember this feeling

Today is April 15. It's nice to be able to breathe again. I even started working out again yesterday. And today I was cool and walked to the Hy-Vee. I am trying to take advantage not only of the nice weather, but also having the Hy-Vee within walking distance. Once the Beaverdale one is built, it's going to be goodbye to Harding Hills.

We've been doing some grilling on the propane grill that used to be Grandpa's. The steaks and lil' pork chops taste so good, almost like putting them on the Foreman grill is an insult. Caylor has made some hamburgers and he said they turned out nicely as well.

Friday I went to a party at my new friend's apartment. Jess came with me. We visited and played SingStar karaoke on the PS2. Jess tore it up on some En Vogue. The hostess (also called Jess) and I did a fair rendition of "Rio," and that was super cool. We also played this game Apples to Apples which I had heard about forever, but never played. It was fun because it involved creativity. I think overall I still like Balderdash better, but I had some good plays on Apples as well.

My friend Stefanie at work is going to have a baby. She brought chocolate chip cookies because that is apparently the signal that you are announcing you're pregnant. A new friend I met at the party found this out by accident, when she brought some to her work and everyone said, "ooh, do you have something to tell us?" I had never heard of this phenomenon before these two items. Is this an Iowa thing, an Office thing, or what? It's kind of like on Scrubs when JD's family members gave each other cake to break bad news. Well for Stefanie having a baby is good news for her, so it's not entirely the same I guess.

Blankets are good armor

Today is April 8. I went home early from work yesterday and I didn't go in at all today. I've got a gnarly combo of flu- and cold-like symptoms. Yeah, it's bad. No one to dote on me really although roommate Caylor brought his lappy downstairs so I could watch Netflix online. All's I know is, it's a good thing I finally learned to swallow pills or I would have had to eat a *lot* of jelly with powder all up in it.

Someone or something in Omaha made me sick. (Brent? Best Western hot tub? Loki? who knows.) That's not to say I didn't have a good time. We went to see Brian Posehn at the Omaha Funny Bone which is out in the same mall as their Apple Store. Openers were Ercell Watson (who was quite funny, actually) and Graham Elwood (who was a bit hacky but had some funny stuff too). Brent and I had been referencing Brian's bit where his Basset Hound dog licked his wife while she was on the toilet, and then he did that bit, so that was pretty cool =)

Before the show, we did some shopping, like we always do. I swear that man (Brent) loves shopping more than most of my girl-friends. Also he was cool enough to take me to the Nebraska humane soc. so I could look at kitties. I petted them on their heads. After the comedy, we went back to Brent's apt. and I watched the last 2/3's of Waiting For Guffman and he tried to figure out his new Zune. After that I went to my motel and sat in the hot tub and went to sleep.

The next day, we ate brunch I guess at this cool diner place in the Benson neighborhood, and then to Zero street records. I got a bunch of cool stuff, including two Ohio-related ones for Jonno's coaster set that I'm working on.
