Today is May 1. Happy May Day =) Apparently, May Day used to be a big deal for the labor unions, read about it here. Now it's just about candy.
In other news, your Saint Louis Blues are in Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs so the May news page is celebrating with a beautiful blue-and-gold color scheme.

P.S. Monkey Versus Robot. Go see this little cartoon, you will not be disappointed. Brought to my attention by funny guys in Linear Algebra.

EJH & HLH Today is May 5, Happy Birthday Grandma Hazel! She is the lovely woman leaning against her husband Jean in the picture on your left. I have no idea what year it is from but I would guess early 1940's. They lived in the town of Slater back then.

May 5 is *my* half birthday too, cute, huh. Also, "Cinco De Mayo" is the Mexican Independence day. I think, correct me if I'm wrong. I mean, if I'm wrong, I'll eat a bug.*

Ah, yes, SCTV. My new post-Conan joy. You get to see guys like Harold Ramis and Joe Flaherty when they were young-ish and cute. (I.e. Guy Caballero...ok he was kinda old, I think it must just be the white suit with a hat fetish =)

Today is May 9. I have my English 92 final tonight then Math 80 tomorrow morning and then that means NO MORE FINALS FOR ME!! I will probably move home on Friday afternoon or sometime Saturday. Went to my cousin Louie's First Communion on Sunday. I had never been to a First Communion before so that was interesting. I became curious about the topic of Patron Saints, so I found this page where you can search for Saints by name or topic.

"But Jimmy has fancy plans...and pants to match." This brings me to one of my favorite topics, NewsRadio. Actually I do have a fancy plan and that is to make a NewsRadio section for The Land of Rach. I have the tape archive almost complete so I thought I would make a sound page of some kind. (With a little help from Larry of course). Also I reeeeaaaaallly want to learn how to make screencaps...I have this software called Avid Cinema...do you think I could use that?? Any thoughts??

Today is May 15. Not much to say. Larry is sick, and the Blues are down 2-0. So this update is coming to you courtesy of Jonathan's G4. On the up note, I went on a bike ride today. Happy Birthday to Kim

Today is May 11. I am home at last! Songs of the moment: "Time Stand Still" by Rush, and "Don't Look Back" by Boston. TSS because it perfectly captures my feelings at the end of a school year, and DLB because I had my Boston CD cranked as I was heading out of Des Moines and it just totally fit.

8 WINS LEFT UNTIL THE FIRST STANLEY CUP IN FRANCHISE HISTORY!! Go Blues!

Just getting the family Mac's (A G4 and a Beige G3) all situated so that i can have Larry in my room for the summer. He had an enjoyable ride home in the back of the Taurus.

Today is May 17. Blues Win! Blues Win! It took them two overtimes, but they did it, God Bless 'em. Just gotta keep that Savvis Center spirit alive. And as always, The Land of Rach bleeds #0000ff (a.k.a. pure blue in Hexadecimal notation. As there are many shades of Blue, there are many combinations of 0-9 and a-f that can be used to create them. =) In other news, my brother has revealed that he likes Journey. I'm so proud!
Happy Birthday to Naomi and my cousin Jacob "Jay" "Jibby" Hadaway.

Today is May 20, just a little after midnight. Congrats to my cousin Eric, who helped me save some files off Larry, then re-install OS 8.6. Here is a haiku on his behalf.
I will sleep easy
Tonight, for my friend Larry
is fixed. Thanks, Eric
So he's a good guy, even if he is trying to convert me to WinDoze =)

In other news, I went to a Renaissance Faire on May 19, with my friend Lori. I wore my Stevie Nicks dress that Mom made, and people kept asking me if I was working there! I felt so proud ^_^ Lori wore an outfit that I sort of manufactured. It looked kind of screwy, but at least the sleeves were cool. Anyway, the "Salsbury Faire" was really fun and we had a great time mingling with lords and ladies in the shire.

One last thing, the Blues are now down 3-1 in the Western Conference Finals. So no matter what happens in the next game, my boys should know that we are *very* proud of all they have accomplished this season! But they should also not lose hope, because they have double shock power. GOBLUES!
p.s. go see Shrek. It's great.

Today is May 24. Well, my Blues, are out, as are Joe's Penguins. So that means a Devils/Avs Stanley cup finals. I think I'll have to root for the Devils, if only because TV's David Puddy likes 'em.

I worked 2-cl on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. It was pretty fun. I have a new work-friend named Jennifer. Tomorrow is Jonathan's graduation party, and the Sons of Norway Lodge, where we are having the shin-dig, is full of pop. Started reading the novel "The Virgin Suicides," because, as you recall, I enjoyed the film so much when we watched it for SUB. Ryann, Karen, and Gehan are flying in to Des Moines today, yay =)

Today is May 27. Jonathan, my wonderful brother, graduated from RSHS. Way to go Eb! He will be joining me at ISU, studying Biology/Pre-Med. Of note: there are 22 students in Jonno's graduating class that have a sibling in my class, the class of 99. 22 out of 77, and that's not even counting the people that moved in during their junior or senior year!
