Today is May 2. Last day of work til I gradjitate. Something close to DDR was on "Malcolm in the Middle," so that probably means it's over. Sorry, Jesse. It's the latest of Hal's little crazes that he has every episode.

Oooh, oooh good news. SCTV will be on DVD in June. 'Member how obsessed with this show I was this show like about 3 years ago? So yeah, now on DVD. Another reason to live, darn you universe, making me look forward to things.

Today is May 3. Some ideas for things. If you can actually do something with them, by all means take, just label me as "creative consultant."
1. Film that takes place in the late 60s, about a young woman who works for the draft board. She started looking at the files maybe to find a date but decides to take things in a different direction. She tampers with the files to make some of the men ineligible for the draft because she becomes opposed to the war. Not sure what her selection criteria is, or whether she gets caught.

2. Short story, narrative, entitled "I Came Out On Elimidate." This idea grew out of my weird love slash hatred of this show. It would be a young woman recounting her experience on Elimidate. She was actually being NICE to one of the other girls, instead of mean and bitchy like they always are. So she was taking a shine to one of the girls, then right when she gets kicked off by the guy, she grabs the girl she's been eyeing and plants one on her.

Today is May 4. People giving bad answers on "Family Feud" = Funny. Yes, VH1 somehow cobbled together a most outrageous game show moments 3. Truly awesome. Also great: this week's Strong Bad e-mail. Cardboard boxes that dance and prance, MC Hammer shout-outs, and throwing nickels at people. I almost forgot to mention also: current vocab word : fisticuffs. Better when accompanied by circular underhanded boxing motions (a la Conan). Oh, hey! Somone transcripted The Approval Center! Dig it.

Today is May 6. News of the Weird Dep't: I somehow got spam from myself to myself. It had an octet/stream that maybe I could decipher, I dunno. Very odd. I'm guessing they had a spambot that went through Yahoo!'s profiles and e-mailed the alternate addresses given. Or perhaps I just forgot to log out of my Y! email on someone's computer, and they are messing with me.

Last night, the water here in Country Club apartments stopped working. I hadn't even noticed until Elizabeth came over to check ours. As of right now (11:30) it is back on, but seems very angry. When you try to turn on the faucet it growls and hisses.

In "I'm actually trying to get a job" news, I e-mailed my resume and cover letter to an Apple hiring person to find out about the sales position in the Mall of America. So yay me.

It's early morning May 7. Today's topic is help me think of a domain name. I've decided to purchase some web space (side note, does anyone know how much we get from ISU, so I know how much I need to buy), as well as a domain name. I'm considering rah1.com, rachelpi.com, or something with pineapples. Of course rachel.com and pineapple.com are already taken, but something along those lines. Anything clever and short would be good too....like....catskickass or fakefangs (both .com's are open) Alternatively, I could just follow Joriah around as he adds "dot com" to the end of people's random statements in the deli.

Today is May 10. The big graduation wkend went well. Sataurday morning was the Departmental reception, where we sat on the stage at Hilton and they read off our names and we each got to say our piece. I think they said there were 188 of us getting our undergrad in either EE or CprE, and that it was some kind of record. Then in the afternoon, it was the whole university graduation. Very long but also meaningful and special. Plus I got to sit by Jess, which was cool. Plus she pointed out it was apropos since we met on the first day of school, at the cymabl tryouts! AAaaaand I got to sit by Helen at the morning one, and we've known each other since the Leadership Advantage. Then (almost excactly at 4:30) came the party. It was great fun and I got to hang with some people I haven't seen in a while. Plus everyone seemed to get along well.

Yesterday I played Super Smash bros. Melee with Joe, got him sent back to Kearney, then went to David's open house. I met his [v cute] brother and assorted friends and family. I saw a lady with my denim pineapple dress. She rocked it with the lil' jacket (unlike me) for truer old lady style. Today I'm just kicking it and watching some Xena on the Netflix.

Here's the article about why my brother shaved his head.

Today is May 14. For no real reason, I'm going to do a Friday Five. These questions are from the Theater Hopper forums, not from the fri five web site, which actually ended last week. That being said...
1. Who would you choose to direct the movie about your life? Vincent Gallo (Buffalo '66)
2. What was your favorite subject in school (elementary, middle, high, or college)? Creative writing (in general), high school calculus (to be specific)
3. What is your favorite place you have gone to on vacation? Ocean City, Maryland. Da beach!
4. What was the most awkward moment you shared with your parents? Nothing comes to mind. My moments with my parents have either been sad or just irritating.
5. If you could fight anyone on this forum, who would you fight? Well I don't know anyone on the forum except for the TH's creator and I wouldn't want to fight him because he makes good comics.
That was kind of blah. So I'll leave you with a quote "That's SPF 45 on my cabeza!" -Jim Gaffigan, regarding sun protection while being bald and pale. It's on one of his comedy cds as well as a clip on "Shorties watching Shorties." They actually have some pretty good stand-up on there.

Today is May 17. Trip to the Twin Cities went well. Sunday night was the open house thing where they talked about the stores, what the jobs are like, etc. Also we introduced ourselves and got to ask questions. If I passed this round (they were kinda evaluating us plus we had to fill out a survey) I'll go back for a group interview next week. Can't wait! I actually felt kinda bad for my Dad during the whole presentation thing since people would try to make computer jokes, and people would laugh except my dad. He doesn't know thing 1 about computers other than children use them when they're supposed to be studying or taking a shower or getting to bed. I was afraid of explaining too much computer stuff to him because I didn't want one of the other applicants to bust in and start correcting me, so while we were in the store I kept it pretty simple. I told him some stuff about Mac vs. Win later, and the difference between hardware, operating system, and applications.

Today we ate some danish and looked at apartment rental guides that they had in the motel lobby. Then we went back to the mall and I went crazy shopping at Torrid! Also I got some new kicks, and my dad bought Jonathan a die-cast ambulance and me a new Taurus keyring since I lost the old one I got on eBay. We had Panda Exp for lunch...which was dumb since we have one right in the MU, but hard to pass up Orange chicken. Oh yeah, a link for my dad : Hat World. he was oddly enchanted by this store. [at Rosedale --ed.]

After MoA (as they call it) we headed north to Rosedale to check out where the new store is going in. It's going to be the smallest of the 3 (MoA, Southdale are the others) buuuut I'm guessing the full-time spots are there and that the other 2 are just hiring for part-time. The other 2 are south of Mpls/StP where apts are easier to come by it seems. Housing situation seems a bit iffy in Roseville, but I can pore over the rental books some more, check the 'net, etc. We managed to check out another apt complex on the way home, then rejoined the interstate and headed home.

Today is May 23. Pretty good weekend at work...not much to say. Last week I called maintenance to ask them to come look at my air conditioner, maybe fix it. But they gave us an entirely new one instead. It's pretty sweet. I've also been introducing my grandma Hazel to the wonders of goin down to the liberry and renting up some [media]. I got her started with some assorted country and other senior-friendly CD's.

Today I did something awesome and that is completing a NY Times Sunday puzzle without internet of any kind. It even had a clue regarding Bill Wyman, bassist for the Rolling Stones.

Today is May 25. Watchin' some Seinfeld. It's the episode with spongeworthy, and Kramer not wanting to wear the AIDS ribbon. It's also the episode that made me paranoid about condom use---the whole thing with George having problems with the wrapper. No one bothered to tell me that guys in my target market wouldn't really have a problem "in that area" until they were as old and out of it as George. Why would a losery high school girl who'd never been so much as felt up worry about such things? Who knows.

In totally gross commercial news, there's one for some kind of car where the music is "Give it to me Baby," and all these garage doors open up invitingly as it drives down the street. Eew. And Mathis's wife hates the Macarena-esque Pepto-Bismol spot with pointing to the afflicted areas.

After Seinfeld, American Idol was making startup noises so I hurriedly changed the channel. Luckliy I landed on one of my favorite shows, Most Outrageous Game Show Moments (now volume 4!) I'm pretty sure I've blogged about this before. But it's so great! And the ugly beards on the Newlywed Game husbands! How the hell did they get married in the first place! Although I don't enjoy the man-on-the-street bad answers. They leave me with no faith in humanity. The people on the game shows at least have the decency to have humorously dated clothing and hairstyles.

Today is May 31. Thought I'd do one more entry in the 5/04 before I had to move on to June. Not much to say. I just watched the Lightning beat the Flames 1-0 at Calgary. Also boxed up one box of pineapple stuff. Trying to get started on the eventual moving process which is bound to suck.
And here's a good comic for you guys. Cats kick ass.
