Today is July First. Since Independence Day in the U.S.A. is July 4, I decided to go with a nice red-white-and-blue color scheme for the July news page. Hope ya enjoy it =)

Last night, one of my co-workers "got lucky." For purposes of this discussion, we'll call him...Jimbo. My friend Heidi and I were standing around discussing the repercussions of this act (i.e., Jimbo was acting a lot nicer today) and then the following exchange took place.
Jimbo: (overhears Heidi and Rachel talking) What are you guys talking about?
Rachel: (automatic response) The government!
Jimbo: You don't have to worry about the government.
Rachel: That's so sweet!
Basically I think this is funny for two reasons. One, that Jimbo didn't know that I will *always* blurt out "the government!" as a reply to any question. And B., he probably meant it just like, "Don't worry about the government," but I chose to take it as "I will protect you from the government." Hence, the sweetness.

Yesterday after work I went garage saling with Sharon in Ames. We only made it to one garage sale that was still going, but I got 2 cool fluorescent desk lamps to use in my dorm next fall. They make a pleasant humming noise. Then at Firehouse Books, I bought this AWESOME book called Fargo rock City. Sort of an auto-biography as it relates to heavy metal. I reccommend it for everyone who likes to ROCK!

Today is July 5. Hope you had a great Independence Day. I traveled to the wonderful town of Slater with Louie, Jay, Jonathan, and Lisa. We had a grat time enjoying the parade, rides, games, shows, and food. Also there was a hypnotist and I got to go up on stage and be hypnotized! I had never been hypnotized before so I didn't really know what to expect. I kinda remember some of the stuff I did, but I don't think I was faking it. Later I went and watched the fireworks with Faith, Sharon, Laura, Eric, Christa, and Ryan. (Just thought I'd mention all their names so no one gets left out =) Also I got wicked sunburnt. Ouch. Oh yeah, and the song of the moment is "Amanda" by Boston. i put in their greatest hits on the way to Ames last night, b/c their debut came out in 1976 (gotta love that Bicentennial rock). I think "Amanda" was actually on a later release, but it still sounded good to me last night.

I just updated the Taurus club Page so be cool and go check that out.

Today is July 10. I am visiting my friend Paul in Cedar Falls, Iowa, home of the University of Northern Iowa. We just watched a fun movie called "SLC Punk" on DVD. In the movie, there was a flashback to before the guys were punks, and they were listening to Rush!! It was "The Trees" off the Hemispheres album. (Actually, "The Trees" is the song that hooked me to Rush in the first place =)

Also...um, I can no longer identify with the Drew Barrymore movie Never Been Kissed. But more on that later...hehehe

Today is July 13, Friday the 13th to be exact. Ooh, scary.. anyways, this upday is coming to you courtesy of the Ames Library. See, it turns out that if you don't pay your ISP for a couple months, they don't let you connect to them anymore. So that's kind of a bummer =)
Summer is going way too fast. All the days blur together. Wednesday I saw "Pollock" with SUB films. It was ok, I guess. Then I went out with Russell, Erin, and that freeloadin' Canadian, Joel. We ate yummy desserts in a café. Yesterday I worked...super slow day. Had to spill my guts to Andy about recent events. Felt kind of weird; would have liked to talk to Jen instead, but you take what you can get. Anyways, he was quite supportive. Today I went on a shoe shopping spree at Wal-Mart. I'm wearing the blue plastic ones right now. They are not as comfortable as I would have hoped, but still very very cute.
Well I think someone needs to use this station (and they don't look like they are going to look at Hentai, either) so I'll say good bye for now

Today is July 18. It's 4:18 in the p.m., and I've been awake for...oh, about 28.5 hours. i guess that is not that big of an accomplishment until you take into consideration that I worked 16, 16.5 of those hours! Yup, it was one of my beloved turnarounds at the deli. Even though today was insane, it was still kind of fun. Also I should mention that we finally got our internet back at home. I plan to be an AOL instant messenger whore quite a bit now. Well, after I have had some sleep anyways ;-)

Today is July 20. Dang, why is the summer going so fast?!? Well yesterday was a nice day, a day I would like to call "Theology Thursday." (I love alliterations!!) First I went to Salt Company at Cornerstone church in Ames. I had been to Salt, which is like a contemporary worship/youth group type thing, a few times before, but with a kind of "whatever" attitude in my heart. Well last night was so much different. I was excited to be there, and the message was really on target for me, especially given all the schtuff I've been talking about with my dad re: his and mom's relationship. So that was good. Then I went to Riverside for the mime drama and WOW! It was great to be back there, in a place with so much love and such a strong committment to Christ.
In other news, I want a webcam!

Today is July 24. It has been an interesting couple of days. I got drunk for the first time on Sunday, with my friends from Hy-Vee Jamie, Jen, Theresa (aka Tree Sap) and Angie. Smirnoff ice is good. Wine coolers are sweet. Still kind of a beer wuss. We tried to watch What Lies Beneath, but instead played some games and had interesting sex discussions. I learned that I am a loser.

In other news I got a web cam. When I feel like ftp-ing, there will be some pics of me for you to see. Eventually I want to get a live cam thing going on but all the places that host just say "no" to Macs =(
Also I went to see Moulin Rouge tonight (technically yesterday) with Lorigb and Jason They have each seen it something like 8 times if you can believe that. It was weird, but in a good way. I was happy b/c Lori said she liked "Tom Sawyer" by Rush

Today is July 26. Dad has the 8-track set up so we are rockin to Neil Young and Traffic. Low Spark of High Heeled Boys forever bay-beee!! Also I just remembered I have Tales From Topographic Oceans on 8-track, also! We'll have to check that action out =)
Last night for SUB we had Best In Show. So very very funny. You should check it out. christopher Guest is a goddam genious, and Eugene Levy is just *the man*. If it wasn't for his role as "Jim's Dad" I would have serious reservations about seeing American Pie 2

Today is July 28 and I just wanted to share with you a quote from That Seventies Show.
"Now I'm getting no lovin', none. And I can't be me without lovin'!"
          ==Kelso
And while I'm not sure what ep it is from, I will try to find it and make a soundfile, since it's just. that. good.
Also, did I mention my new obsession is crossword puzzles?!
