Today is August 1. I know I've said this before, but dang, where
is the summer going?? Let's see, what is new. Jon and Heather got
married, that was pretty cool. On the downside, I've been fighting off
the flu or dehydration or something. Basically I didn't eat, drink, or
sleep for about 4 days. Well, I did have some pizza for Sharon's
birthday. That was a fun day. Anyway, being sick really sucked! I had
a fever of 103 (yes, just like "Hot Blooded" by Foreigner) and at the
same time had wicked chills. At least i didn't have any fever dreams
though, that is a relief.
But I am feeling pretty much better now, just chugging the H20
and watching my NewsRadio tapes. Also I got a new cell phone, and it's
the kind that you leave on all the time. If you wanna chat
drop me an email and I'll give you
the number. It's an Ames number too, so if you're a bum who won't call
me b/c it's long distance, the days of using that excuse are over
Today is August 3. Medical update: I have a "viral syndrome."
Which
basically means that I have to sit in the basement drinking Gatorade,
taking tylenol, and monitoring my body temperature to see if my stinkin'
fever will go away. It's a huge hassle. Like right now I feel pretty
good but I know as soon as the tylenol wears off I will have a fever
again...grr. In Canadian whore news, last night they had the show
"Blind Date" from Toronto, so that made me happy =)

Today is August 10. I'm back, babies! I spent my vacation week in
Minnesota, "land of 10,000 lakes" (say in voice of Tina Fey reading
Weekend Update). Left Saturday afternoon/eveningish, stayed in Albert
Lea, then up to Duluth. It was freakin hot which dulled my enjoyment of
the Lake Superior region somewhat, but we did have fun driving around
and playing in the lake. The next day we drove to the Itasca county
area. Went fishing on Lake Winibigoshish courtesy of
the boat launch at Denny's
Resort. We stayed 3 nights at the "Gosh Dam
Place"...Winibigoshish...Gosh...Dam. Get it? Anyways they lost power on
Wednesday night so we spent Thursday night at Denny's, went fishing one
more time, and then headed home! We made dang good time so now it is
Friday night and I'm back home. it feels great to be back. Although
like an idiot I left my pillow at Denny's so they will have to mail it to
me, hehe
Today is August 11. And you know what, I learned something today. Never
ever go to the Iowa State Fair
on a Saturday. There are just too many dang people there and you will
end up wishing personal tazers were legal. Other than the insane amount
of people, though, we had a good time. Many mullets to be seen.
Today is August 14. Awakened by the horrific sound of hammering...my dad
and 2 of his relatives are re-shingling the house. I ordered some
memory
for Larry, and I'm very very excited about
that. Also I bought this iron-on paper for printers, so now i can make
my own funny and subversive t-shirts for a fraction of the cost of
the other guys. I'm going back to
work today, which is a little tough after being gone for so long, but I
need the money to finance projects such as school and toys.
Today is August 15. Got Larry's memory, installed it (remembering to
"ground" myself first), and he promptly went crazy. No sound, monitor all
dark and smeary. Took the memory out, restarted, still the same. Think
I'll be dragging his 60 pound butt to Beacon or somesuch, hopefully I
just jostled something loose and they can fix him!!
Went to
American Pie 2 today with
Jamie, after work. It was really funny,
and it had the same good character development as the other. Also it
made me wistful + horny. But ya know office supplies make me horny too,
so what does that tell you? I am slowly coming to the realization that I
have blown my one shot at happiness...twice. Is this possible? I'm
gonna die alone, I can feel it! And I won't even have the consolation
prize of a house full of cats, b/c I know that no cat could measure up to
Daisy Pitter. Dangit I
just want to go to sleep for about 11 hours and have a magic fairie fix
my computer.
Today is August 20. Mom would have been 51 today. I'm getting ready to
move back to the dorm. Still no word on Larry.
Today is August 22. Repaired Larry + ethernet + record player = :-) for
Rachel. I am sitting here in my new dorm room, at my new desk with a
fully functional, hooked-up-to-a-turntable Macintosh, the supremely
supreme T1 line satisfying my urges to send and receive information.
It's great.
Today is August 23. You recall my obsession with the "Guy
that's
protected from three-inch bees." Well it seems others are into that bit
too. I read in someone's journal that he wanted to dress up as the guy
for Halloween. Now that would simply kick ass. My own little
contribution to 3-inch bee guy love was to be a movie clip of the
sketch. Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out how to get video from my
vcr into the computer, only audio. So here is the next best thing:
bee.mp3
Download, enjoy, irritate your friends.
Today is August 25, early in the AM.
Went to
Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back
tonight with Regan
and Alicia. It was
so funny and I think really well made too.
The theater was packed too, full of
crazy ppl who some how knew the words to the song that played over the
closing credits....I'm so out of it....but I guess, you know me &
conteporary radio! In other news, I got to hang out with my *awesome*
friend Kim and her boyf Adam last night. They are a fun couple of kids.
I'm giving a shout out to them since Kim is one of my readers of this
"journal." Kim is cool for being my friend since kindergarten and
knowing obscure jokes about punctuation!
Today is August 26. Actually I just watched the video for "Today" by the
Smashing Pumpkins,
courtesy of Lori, Lori, LoriGB.
It's one of my favorites. It seems to have the message, "Who needs
love/lust when you have friends??"
So my 4 days in a row of work are done and now I have to go to school
tomorrow. Don't quite know where my rooms are since I didn't get to do
the ritual "go around to all buildings and figure out where they are."
Oh well they have to be around here somewhere! Here is a sound clip that tells you how I felt at work today.
Today is
August 27. Here are a few thoughts on the first day of class. -
Computer Engineering
210. This class is at 8 but Peter is
there so that makes me happy. We can make stupid comments to each
other. The instructor is also unintentionally hilarious.
- Computer Science
227 This professor behaves as if his class is the Christopher Lowell Computer
Science show. Seriously. They look alike (well, except our guy has more
hair) and they are both passionate about their work. So that's cool
- Womens' Studies 248x. Actually I think I'm dropping this. It was
kinda blah and I really don't want to take another writing course. I
will try to add this Psych class about the brain.
- Math 267. The
instructor looks and sounds exactly like the character Mena Suvari played
on Saturday Night Live, the Russian model
on "Veronica & Co." And she can't quite say "equation" right which is
inconvenient as the course is Differential Equations. But I think she'll
be a good and interesting teacher.
In other news, I went home and got a bunch of stuff. So for my faithful
readers I present a pic of
me. I took it with my webcam.
Today is August 29. I really have nothing to say I just wanted to post.
I have picked up Astro 342 after dropping that Women's
studies/english thing. Plus Arian (awesome old Engineering 160
buddy, one of the "Burnouts") is there so that makes me happy. A
few minor rants. One, it's really freakin' hot. Two, what is up
with homework? I don't want to do any. and 3, I am sick and tired
of all the people in love. Really. I know I sound bitter; it's part of
my appeal ;-)
