Today is August 26. Sorry for lag in updates. Life has been going OK.
Chris came back from Blair, and he is now settled in the new apartment
with Brent. Their apartment
is nice because it has central air. So I hung out there a lot last week,
and worked 40 hours at the deli.
Nothing makes you feel old like the first day of concert band. For the
drummers, it's me, 3 freshman (1 girl that I talked to, she seems cool)
and a 26-year-old who already got his music performance degree but has
returned to get music ed. So he'll know what's going on, and the girl I
mentioned, said she liked to play tympani.
Nothing makes you feel popular like the first week of your fifth year of
college. So many people I know. From classes, band/clar choir, Hy-Vee,
dorms. It's nice. Right now I'm listening to LTJ on the iPod. Hello Rockview.
I don't think it's supposed to be a concept album but many of the lyrics
have to do with feeling like you're doing the same old thing, not
changing or moving.
And when I think of how I'm feeling right
now I still remember how I felt four
years ago. Four years ago I was a freshman in undeclared engineering, I
knew a few people (Rowe chicks...woo!), I was meeting a few more (Arian
from ENG 160, Scott, learning team ppl,
FHP folks). I
had a hot room with a western window, outside which the marching band
played songs from Chicago [transit authority] and Star Wars Episode I. I
slept in a bed on the floor because I was afraid of falling out of a
loft. Now I'm a "fifth-year senior" in Computer Engineering. I know
tons of people (but I mainly hang out with Chris and Brent), I'm meeting
a few more (drummers, new ppl at Hy-Vee), I have a hot room with a
western window, outside which the dairy farm cows moo and stink, and I
sleep in a bed on the floor because I have no need for a loft. (I
realize there is no mention of
how I felt four years ago, but maybe it will come back to me if I
remember what I was doing four years ago =0)
