can someone please make it so that we stop screwing up at work and in this instance I swear i was not involved in any way except for maybe I could have factory restored that 12" ibook on like Friday. but other than that it was other people causing the badness. and yet again our parts aren't getting ordered and we have no idea why.

Interesting result for i want to die. I read it, it was pretty good. can we please have the apocalypse or something for reals because i am ready for all this to be over. for all of us. I think it would be a relief for many.

later and while i'm thinking of getting out, my battery in the iBook (Swoopy) is coming back from the brink. For no real reason. Where it once danced near the realm of one half of ten minutes, as of this week it can go for hours. which is cool. i can charge it up (the dc-in board is a little iffy but i can stabilize it with a book or something) and then go use it wherever. sometimes i think of replacing this computer but as of right now it meets all my needs (wireless, has a screen) and is very iconic.

tomorrow i work again, it's going to suck because at least 2 ppl from today have to come back and do more dumb stuff. and then fixing the part thing. and knowing that parts that "should have" been ordered on friday won't get ordered until Tuesday.

p.s. later again Fake Energy got a new member. How many new members did your fanlisting get? Oh I see you don't have a regional certificate clyde.

2 weeks and counting
mood:   excited
Today is September 6. Arrested Development season 3 starts 9/19/05. This is now less than 2 weeks away, and I'm anticipating this highly. Unfortunately, the season 2 dvd's don't come out until like October, but we can deal.

I made a playlist where the requirement was playcount=0 and I called it Never Nude. So I'm trying to listen to all these songs that according to iTunes I have never listened to before. I need to go eat some lunch. I'm all nice and clean from my shower so maybe I'll go out somewhere. I mean, yogurt and Life cereal is nice but something more like a hamburger would be so tasty right now.

Oh yeah earlier I found the jubilee of pens and then today I opened up my little word/phrase origin book just to browse and it opened right to jubilee.
Jubilee From the Hebrew yobel, meaning "ram's horn." According to the book of Leviticus in the Bible, fifty years after the Jews were freed from Egyptian bondage they were to declare a year of rest in which the fields were to lie fallow and all Hebrew slaves were to be freed. The start of the Jewish year is announced by blowing a ram's horn on Rosh Hashana.
So I guess South Park wasn't too far off with their episode Jewbilee. Yes, I am a nerd. But I'm rockin' with Neil Young so y'all can step off, k?

Cats and Dreams
mood:   confused
...are two topics people love to talk about but probably aren't always that interesting to others. Today is September 7. Last night I had a dream that I was out at my dad's house and we "found" Daisy out in the backyard. As though she had simply wandered off and now she was back. My mind recreated her calico-ness very well. A couple notes on that Tripod site. 1, sorry for the pop-ups. 2. Do I still think Mom and Daisy are in Heaven together? Honestly I would probably say "no" but I will leave that phrase up there because when I wrote the page that's what I believed. 3. The link to the story is broken but I have put it here on pair because I'm pretty proud of it as a piece of writing and as a grief tool.

Right now I'm listening to the new Mars Volta album, Frances the Mute. I picked it up on the suggestion of that special-edition prog rock magazine I bought a couple weeks ago. They were all like, if you want to listen to some cool progressive rock being made today, check out The Mars Volta. Let me say I have not been disappointed, and I am traditionally very wary of anyone who tries to recommend "new" bands to me. But TMV really deliver, they bring the melodic bombast and dissonance of the best crazy Yes and Genesis, and mix with soaring vocals and exciting rhythms. The songs have bite, edge, but also keyboard solos. I can't wait to dig into their earlier stuff.

Since I had to dig into the backup of my old isua site to find the cat story, I figured while I was there I could mput all my old CD reviews here too.

Coolness report
mood:   shocked
Today is September 9. Happy Birthday to my pal Brent. (And yes I did just put "shocked" in the mood as a reference to Jason Bateman as Pepper saying "I feel *shocked*" on Dodgeball. As I was driving to work today I heard the live version (complete with crazy Brian Johnson near-speech) of "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap." How crazy is that? I just started laughing so hard. But then I just listened to the song and rocked out on the Interstate.

So right now I'm at work studying for my re-cert. I'm being tricky since it could just look like I'm doing some important unix work for studing. But it's just pico folks. Yeah that's right, even though Tiger's Darwin install now has nano (hm, prescient much?) my awesome pair server is sticking with pico. Yay.

Because it's Midnite
mood:   pensive
Is really no excuse in this situation. Today is September 14 (early) and just a second ago I was trying to make Calypso depressed because he doesn't have a dad anymore. (Previous to living with me, he lived with a real family: a mom, Kara, a dad, Bill, a baby, Ella, and an aunt, Molly. Now he just has me. Poor bastard). So I'm sitting there petting him and I'm like "Do you miss your dad? You don't have a dad anymore." There is something seriously wrong with me. Oh and now the Smashing Pumpkins version of "Landslide" just came up on my iTunes so I can listen to that and be further reminded of how sad and alone I am.

Is it safe?
mood:   silly
Today is September 12. I joined a couple more fanlistings today. I may have to reorganize all the little buttons, what do you think? Right now I'm watching the Muppet Show on DVD. So far on this disc there were 2 eps from our big VHS tape collection but then 4 that I hadn't seen before. Jim Nabors is kind of handsome in a goofy-looking way. Today was day 1 of 7 but I got to do 1 and 1/2 repairs (one was just pulling the drive out of an iBook and putting it in the freezer to try some data recovery) AND I was a parts-ordering hero. Whenever I sit in the recliner with the footrest flipped up, kitty sits on my legs or by my feet. It's pretty cute. It's like he has really bonded with me, or he just likes stealing my precious body heat just like those darn robots from the future.

Right now on the Muppets DVD it has a special subtitle track with "pop-up" factoids about the show. I just learned the truth about "Mahna Mahna." The original song was by Piero Umiliani, and it was used in the documentary "Svezia, Inferno e Paradise" ("Sweden, Heaven and Hell"). Mahna Mahna. Doot doo, doo doo doo. Now just TRY to get that out of your head!

For once, a Monday is awesome

Today is September 19. I just watched the premiere. I just realized Arrested Development is the best show ever...and cats' ears are still done shaped like triangles. Right now I'm watching the show that comes on after AD...it has Xander as well as Sam from F&G. Plus there was a reference to a drunk chick named Rachel out with her pals before getting married.

So we're all super bummed that AD didn't win more of their Emmys. (And yes, they were *their* Emmys, the other people that took them home were mistaken in some way) but it's cool that we get to watch the new eps. Although it was rather maddening that my Fox affiliate is now showing ELR at the 6:30 spot in their syndication block, putting it RIGHT BEFORE AD. Frustrating, yes. The premiere really was super great. I got it on tape so I can go back and record all the lines that made my jaw drop and astonished laughs come out. For some reason I remember a lot of jokes about cha-chas and Buster's voice sounded weird. Oh and there was even an ad for Ask Jeeves, I guess they were pleased that a respected attorney like Barry uses their services.

OH SNAP DHL just had a commercial where they were trying to act like they were SO GREAT but in reality we know that they don't even understand the meaning of the phrase "Next day." So how about, more trucks and guys in Maryland to send me my parts, less ads on TV. End work rant.

Later ...
Chalkgirl: I wonder if anyone has ever named a baby Slayer
Jimbo31415 : lol
Chalkgirl : I've heard of babies named Hunter
Chalkgirl : It's not too far off
Chalkgirl : Slayer Joseph Hadaway
Jimbo31415 : You need to have a child so you can name him that
Chalkgirl : I would make anyone a free baby blanket that named their child Slayer
Jimbo31415 : You need to post that on your blog

New Lappy In The House
mood:   impressed
Today is September 23. I got a new computer today. It was kind of on a whim. I had been thinking about a new Powerbook for awhile now, how even though the 12" doesn't have FW800 or a PCMCIA card that it would be the right one for me. So then there was a Demo 12" on fire sale and it was affordable. So I put a postie (Susie's word for Post-it notes, it has rubbed off on me) on it that said "Save for Rachel H" and then at the end of my shift it was mine!

So far everything has been cool. I used my .Mac to sync my bookmarks so everything is where I need it. Also I got Terminal set up (green on black for life yo). After I have enough of horsing around with this I'm gonna hang out with Molly and baby Ella.

Oh I just remembered what made me want to post tonight. A confession to make. I like Huey Lewis music way, way too much. If you saw my Awesome 80's playlist you probably noticed this. I need to update it actually. I was singing one of my famous cat-songs, this time to the tune of "Hold Me Now" I have a picture, pinned to my cat. He's orange with stripes and he's pushing the top of my couch down all flat. So I fired up iTunes to hear the real version, and then "Happy To Be Stuck With You" came on a couple songs later and it just made me happy. OK now "Bringing On The Heartbreak" just came on, and I have a story. One time I was only a little bit buzzed but my friend was singing that one on karaoke, and I could see the lyrics on the screen and I thought "This song is about me!" So Family Guy has my number once again (See also: Journey, Don't Stop Believin)

Just can't stand up, from fallin apart. Can't see through this veil across my heart over youuuuu Thanks Cheap Trick!

Today is September 26. Today was a superb example of doing nothing on a day off. Last night I stayed up way too late going over my site logs. I finally figured out how to download them and stuff. Here is some interesting info I have gleaned from them so far. One thing is for sure and that's that I need to make a fan page for the Guy that's Protected from Three-Inch Bees. And anytime you quote Eminem lyrics it will generate some traffic. Aaaand you cannot deny that I am a Busty+Rachel but in reality all I was referring to was Byron "Buster" Bluth. Oh man Announcer Joel on Conan just ripped off Arr_Dev's googling joke. While we're on the subject tonight's episode was pretty good. Although it did bring to light that I say "Oh Snap" waaayyyy too much. (Guess which line caused me to exclaim that....yeah it was the "you're a regular Brad Garrett" comment from Michael to George Sr.)
